St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association Breaks Ground in the Dutch Caribbean, Historic MOU Establishes GVP Pioneer Robotics Club

November 21, 2024 – St. Eustatius, Dutch Caribbean

Under the visionary leadership of the OECS Robotics Association (OECSRA), the St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association (SKNRA) has made history by formalizing a partnership in St. Eustatius, Dutch Caribbean. In a landmark moment, an official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Gwendoline Van Putten School (GVP) and SKNRA to establish the country’s first STEAM-focused robotics club – the GVP Pioneer Robotics Club.

This initiative, the first of its kind in St. Eustatius, will provide students with hands-on experience in robotics, coding, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, setting the foundation for a future driven by innovation and technology.

The MOU was signed by Dr. Ricardo R. Neil, the Chairman and Founder of both the OECSRA and SKNRA, alongside Mrs. Clarsina Rivers-Berkel, Chairlady of the Foundation for Promotion of Secondary Education at GVP School. This partnership signifies a shared commitment to empowering students through cutting-edge education and nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders in the Caribbean.

Dr. Neil remarked:
“This is a monumental step not just for St. Eustatius but for the entire region. The GVP Pioneer Robotics Club will be a beacon of opportunity, demonstrating how robotics and STEAM education can transform communities and inspire young minds.”

Mrs. Rivers-Berkel expressed her enthusiasm, stating:
“We are proud to be part of this groundbreaking initiative. This partnership will enrich the learning experience for our students and position them to compete on the global stage in robotics and STEAM disciplines.”

The GVP Pioneer Robotics Club aims to serve as a model for similar initiatives across the Dutch Caribbean and the OECS region, proving that collaboration can bridge gaps and build futures.
