St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association Gains Official NGO Status and Commends Good Standing Record

Official NGO Status and Commends Good Standing Record

Basseterre, St. Kitts – 19th June 2024 – The St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association (SKNRA) is proud to announce that it has been officially recognized as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). This significant achievement marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to fostering robotics and STEM education across St. Kitts and Nevis.

The SKNRA will operate under the provisions of the Non-Governmental Organizations Act (Cap. 20.59), as amended by the Non-Governmental Organizations (Amendment) Bill, 2024. This legal framework ensures that our activities are conducted with the utmost transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Moreover, the Association is pleased to highlight its good standing record from the Financial Services Regulatory Commission, which underscores our credibility and responsible financial management.

Mission and Vision

The primary mission of the SKNRA is to empower the youth of St. Kitts and Nevis by promoting interest and proficiency in robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. By providing educational programs, workshops, and competitive events, we aim to inspire innovation and critical thinking in the next generation of leaders and problem-solvers.

Chairman’s Statement

Dr. Ricardo R. Neil, Chairman and Founder of the SKNRA, expressed his excitement about this development: “Achieving NGO status is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and supporters. It enables us to expand our reach and impact, ensuring that more young people in St. Kitts and Nevis have access to cutting-edge educational resources. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of governance and financial management as we move forward.”

Upcoming Initiatives

As part of our strategic plan, the SKNRA will be launching several new initiatives, including:

  • Robotics Competitions: Local and regional competitions to foster a spirit of innovation and teamwork among students.
  • STEM Workshops: Hands-on learning experiences for students and educators to enhance their knowledge and skills in STEM fields.
  • Community Outreach: Programs designed to engage and educate the wider community about the importance of robotics and STEM education.

Call to Action

We invite all members of the community, including educators, parents, businesses, and policymakers, to join us in this exciting journey. Your support and involvement are crucial as we strive to create a robust and dynamic environment for STEM education in St. Kitts and Nevis.
